The Boston Back Bay Area was developed in the mid-1800’s, and has since garnered a reputation for being Boston’s premier high-end housing and shopping district. It's area stretches eastward from Massachusetts Avenue to Arlington St, and Southward from Beacon St. to Boylston St.
The Back Bay is located on the east-side of the Boston Public Garden and Boston Commons, offering residents easy access to the most popular outdoor recreational space in the city. The iconic shopping district located along Newbury St. house a wide range of retail locations, from average stores to high-end designer boutiques. The Prudential and Copley Square area's are just a stones throw away, and offer a large variety of shopping and eateries as well.
Restaurants range from average to very elegant. One of the most well-known restaurants is the highly regarded, “L'Espalier”. The Boston Back Bay features a plethora of well-reviewed public and private schools. The “Commonwealth School” is one of the most selective and accredited private schools in Boston. As for transportation, the Back Bay has plenty of entrances to the Green Line, which can get you anywhere you need to go in the city.
